Family Navigation: Season 3: Fall | Season 5: Spring

We are back with the MySims challenge family! The Sheff family has been working hard to complete the goals of the first generation of the challenge, including eating all the city and experimental foods. Last update baby Candy grew up into a toddler, and then a child. New baby DJ was born and grew up into a toddler and child himself. Candy got a B in school, and Gino worked on his mixology and ate a lot of food. Let’s dig into this season!

As we join the family at 4 AM we find the kids up watching tv and listening to the stereo, Gino working on the computer, and Ronald standing outside for some reason. We send everyone back to bed as is normal.

Once everyone is awake again we have the kids work on cooking with Gino. DJ doesn’t actually do much to help, but I love the fact they can cook together. We also continue the annoying issue of outfits not changing indoors again.

Both of the kids gets a Jokesters dynamic with their dad Gino. This is a family that jokes a lot, especially with Ronald trying to be a stand-up comedian. I wish I had thought before about sending him out to nightclubs with the family and setting up a place he could perform.

Late in the evening Gino and the kids head out to grab some food stand food. Gino is really close to finishing all the city recipes. I believe at this point he only had 2 or 3 left to try. We have some more of the experimental foods to learn still.

On a snowy morning, Gino and Ronald head out to the experimental kitchen in order to try and get a couple more recipes under their belt. Ronald has enough skill to learn the foods as well and they can make them at home, so we can knock out two at a time at the resturant.

Back at home Ronald switches off with Gino to be the “active” parent for a while and helps DJ with his homework. Gino and Ronald work pretty opposite schedules so they trade off being the parent at home with the kids.

It worked out well that evening because Gino came home with a promotion to level 9 in his career. One final step to get to Celebrity Chef.

The family spends the next little while just hanging out as a family working on their various aspirations and goals. Belle Krause and Carolyn Grey visit along with the kid’s friend Atlas one day and they all hang out and try to help DJ complete his aspiration.

Ronald and Gino went out again to the experimental restaurant and I noticed many of our other playables out and about today. Lori Keet is out with his adopted son Kameron, then at another table, Rosa Petal is out with Eliza Pancakes.

Gino’s best friend since this challenge started has been Courtney and she has gotten married, so we head over and visit with Courtney so she can get to know her niece and nephew better and everyone can meet her husband. We promise to do better inviting them over and visiting more often.

Gino is now jokesters with everyone in the family since Ronald has also gotten this dynamic with him now. Ronald then discovered he’s a bit of a foodie. This makes so much sense it isn’t even funny so of course we say yes.

Gino heads out trying to find some of the last meals he needs to eat from the city stalls. Then Gino discovers in himself that he is Neat at heart. We go ahead and say yes to this because I can see Gino liking things neat.

Candy, I believe, needed to splash around in a splash park, so we went to the rec center we placed in Oasis Springs and play with the splash park there. Afterwards, the kids went inside and played some Don’t Wake the Llama with Rory Berry and Aster Petal.

Ronald gets himself a promotion at work, which is great news. We haven’t done a lot of work on building his skills and requirements for the job.

No no no no no….I’m not ready for grim, I’m not ready for grim!!!

Ronald!!!!! We will miss you so much man. Your family is set up well, but you will still be very very missed!!! RIP Ronald, may we see your spirit again soon.

That night Gino tucks the kids into bed. Everyone is very sad, and it’s good Candy will be a teen very soon because the kids are going to be left alone many nights coming up while Gino goes to work.

The kids spend the next snowy day outside building snowpals together. They had a lot of fun. Back inside both Candy and DJ had loose teeth, and DJ manages to get his out. Candy “celebrates” her lost tooth by starting work on her violin skill (well creative skill mostly, but with the violin.)

With all the teeth being lost both kids get little certificates and cute tooth-related items to hang in their room. DJ gets himself some money for his tooth but Candy gets this little message. I don’t think Candy has eaten that many sweets, but her name is sweet.

Gino gets himself a midlife crisis. This timing makes a lot of sense actually, poor Ginio. He gets the crisis, Desire to Create, which also feels right. Ronald was a bit of a creative so this makes it feel even more like Ronald’s loss was the catalyst. Luckily most of this can be done fairly easily.

Candy is close to her birthday and she will not complete the Playtime Captain aspiration she got after finishing Rambunctious Scamp, but that’s all right. She is going to keep working on music, especially since the next generation will need to make money from music.

Candy’s birthday has arrived and Gino gets to work on his Signature cake for her birthday. They throw a big party and Aunt Courtney is, of course, invited as well. Once the cake is done Candy goes to blow out her candles and grows up in quite an outfit.

Here is our girl after her makeover. I really like Candy’s look, she’s a pretty sim. Candy adds Dance Machine to her traits, she also got Physically Gifted from her aspiration, and she gets the Admired Icon teen aspiration for her teen years.

Gino had to go to work and so Candy and DJ work together to clean up and fix up the kitchen after the party. Ronald comes out that night and apparently knew it was time to “trade-off” parenting duties, and helps Candy with her first high school homework.

Candy heads out for her first day of high school and grabs a locker and meets up with many of the kids that are playable in the hood. Holly Williams comes up and wants to be best friends with Candy at lunch. She says yes, because why not? Today was good for meeting many of the kids.

Holly comes home with Candy from school and they work on building a snowpal for themselves. You can see the one Candy and DJ made in the background. Holly feels like a great friend for Candy to have.

Gino has decided he is an Overachiever, which is probably true with all the work he has done on his aspirations and goals. Meanwhile, Candy and DJ have a conversation and she decides she really likes discussing people’s interests.

High school wasn’t the most exciting day the next time we follow Candy, but there is a career festival. This time we don’t know anyone at the fair, but it was still a good day, and for once Candy didn’t get a fear.

Gino heads out for one of the last city stand meals, he has one left to get. While we are out Gino actually gets a call about someone liking him and asking him on a date. I wasn’t sure what to do for sure about this one, but decided it was too early for Gino to move on so we just asked to stay friends.

Back at home, DJ is working hard on making friends by talking to people on the phone. Gino has picked up the guitar and and starts working on getting those hours of playing an instrument in for his crisis.

Sadly, Candy that night wakes up in a panic about her future. I guess the career fair really did do a number on Candy, she just hadn’t really had time to worry about it yet. Don’t worry Candy, I’ve got you on this one!

Candy has decided she likes argumentative sims now, which is fine. Additionally, Gino is now really into singing. I guess all that creative energy is just coming out anyway it can. Since the next generation is all abut music it’s kind of fun that Gino has developed this interest.

It is Winterfest Eve and Gino decides to whip up a breakfast for the next morning so he doesn’t have to worry about cooking a big meal tomorrow. Then a couple of kids from school come over and hang out with Candy. They also have some questions for her.

First off Gracelyn asks to be best friends, and of course, we say yes. Then Dusty asks us to go to prom, as friends. Now I wouldn’t typically be sending Candy to prom this week since she’s still too new a teen, but since she was asked, we go ahead and say yes.

We head out the rec center and Gino and Candy spend a little time cloudgazing for Gino’s crisis. Inside DJ is busy making kid friends. He plays a game with Rory and Aster as well as Shai White, who is from our Disney Princes Challenge family.

Suddenly Candy is very popular with all the other playble girls from the hood and is now also going to prom with Kendall as friends and is best friends with Clover Krause. I guess the Admired Icon and social bunny app really make you popular.

Back inside DJ completes his aspiration! Way to go DJ!!! I haven’t managed this in a while, and the tables here are really useful for making kid friends. DJ next rolls to have the Playtime Captain aspiration, which we are not likely to finish.

That evening to celebrate the family goes out to the experimental food restaurant and orders Gino a new food for the picture wall. I believe we are down to 4 more experimental food to get and learn which means we should be able to easily finish this next season.

Candy’s popularity is exploding. She now has 3 dates to prom (as friends actually) and more than enough best friends. None of these kids are playables, but it’s still kind of fun to make this many friends. I was worried about making the 10 or whatever number of friends needed for this aspiration, but I guess that was a silly thing to worry about.

We will begin Winterfest with Candy getting an A in school, and DJ going into a loud phase. All my kids seem to be going through loud phases recently.

Winterfest morning comes along and the family starts it with the grand breakfast Gino had prepped the previous morning. It’s a wonderful grand meal for the family.

That afternoon was spent having some family fun in the yard out in the snow. Once they all got cold they came in and cleaned up the house and got everything in a good state for the party they would have the next day.

Candy got invited out to the Spice Festival as so she went and tried the challenge, which she failed, but she did get to hang out with a lot of the kids she has become good friends with. Once we spend a bit of time with everyone we send her home.

The next day starts out with the kids jamming out to music, and Gino is working on his cross-stitch. I decided this was a thing he could easily do for his midlife crisis, and it was fun. Of course the music is VERY loud thanks to DJ.

It’s time for DJ’s birthday and he blows out his candles. We did have a party with a bunch of teens in attendance for DJ, but I apparently didn’t get pictures of the teens. DJ blows out his candles and ages into a teen. He gets the Bro trait, got Socially Gifted, and gets Joke Star as his aspiration for now, just like his dad. He’s a pretty handsome boy, who looks a lot like Ronald.

Candy decides she likes hard-working sims, which makes a lot of sense for her, she does seem fairly driven. It is, however, time for prom.

Prom was a lot of fun, Candy even won the class clown title, and Clover got prom queen. It was a lot of fun and the two took a silly picture for fun after their win. There was dancing, food, and eventually a silver rating I believe.

We did stop by after prom, but it was cold and snowing and not a lot of fun, so we send Candy home to find Ronald out haunting again. He seems to know when it’s the kids’ birthdays and that it’s time to come celebrate.

Gino is thrilled to see Ronald again and they spend some time having fun together in bed. While they are having fun DJ heads in to take a bath and he actually looks a LOT like Gino in this shot. I nearly got them confused.

With DJ in a bath, Gino just getting up from his fun with Ronald, and Candy fast asleep it is now 4 AM and time to switch families. We are not actually going to have an heir poll this season, that will come next season, so you’ll get a chance to know the kids a little bit more. Next up we will be visiting the Berry family. I hope to see you over there!
